Thailand is pushing to accelerate Thai-EU FTA negotiations in order to increase trade and investment between Thailand and the European Union. One of the points of discussion between the Minister of Commerce and Dr Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut (Minister of Economic affairs, Labour and Tourism for the German state of Baden-Württemberg) on 21 October 2024 was that Germany's support for the Thailand-EU FTA in order to benefit trade and investment. Germany is Thailand's largest trading partner in the EU. To this end, Germany plays an important role as foreign direct investment from Germany to Thailand was ranked 10th in 2023 with a total investment of around THB 11.38 billion and trade between the countries at US$10.74 billion.
